Job Description

Your next challenge at Trivium

Imagine a high-speed line producing precision metal food cans for brands you know. A sensor flags a deviation—you step in, diagnose the cause, adjust the machine, and the line is back at rate. That blend of mechanical savvy and operational control is exactly what we’re looking for at Trivium Packaging, a global leader with 60+ facilities and nearly 8,000 people serving food, seafood, pet food, nutrition, beauty and personal care, household care, and premium beverages.

Impact you will make

  • Run and fine-tune high-speed equipment; perform changeovers and machine interventions to maximize uptime.
  • Diagnose faults and perform maintenance—from daily care to preventive/predictive tasks and breakdown repairs.
  • Lead by example on safety with daily/department checks and immediate hazard correction.
  • Execute quality checks and documentation to ensure every shipment meets customer expectations.
  • Partner with Advanced Operator Technicians on installations, replacements, and mechanical upgrades.
  • Advance Continuous Improvement/Operational Excellence activities and standard work.
  • Support inventory control procedures and accurate system transactions.
  • Operate forklifts and coordinate material movements as assigned.
  • Expedite hold material processing through sorting and inspection.
  • Receive, store, and track chemicals used in metal food packaging processes.
  • Maintain clean, organized work areas using 5S principles.
  • Uphold Food Safety Policy, GMPs, HACCP principles, and all relevant Food Safety Standards.
  • Contribute wherever needed—other duties as assigned.

What sets you up for success

  • Clear English communication (written and verbal).
  • Computer proficiency for inventory-related transactions.
  • Alignment with our Core Values: Passion, Teamwork, Excellence, and adherence to the Code of Conduct.
  • Lean manufacturing familiarity; proven skill in mechanical troubleshooting and preventive maintenance.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 2+ years of manufacturing experience (required).
  • Forklift/material handling experience preferred.
  • Mechanical aptitude validated through standardized mechanical testing.

Working here: conditions and schedule

Expect a dynamic production environment—outside office/lab areas the noise is very loud, so hearing protection and assigned PPE are required. Temperature can range from below 40°F to above 90°F, with strong vibration and frequent visual and audible alarms. Air may contain fumes, dust, odors, and chemicals typical of metal manufacturing.

  • Regular: standing, walking, using hands to finger/handle/grip/pull/feel, and talking/hearing.
  • Frequent: reaching with hands/arms; stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, including in confined spaces.
  • Use of computers and electronic screens.
  • Lifting: occasionally up to 75 lbs; frequently 1–50 lbs; no continual lifting.
  • Vision requirements: close and distance vision; color recognition; strong hand–eye coordination.
  • Work on, in, and around conveyors and high-speed mechanical equipment in manufacturing and warehouse settings.

Time & effort profile

  • Stand 90% / Sit 10%
  • Walk 90% / Lift 60%
  • Squat 60% / Crawl 10%
  • Climb 20% / Bend (90 degrees) 40%
  • Twist (30 degrees) 50% / Reach above shoulders 35%
  • Kneel 40% / Work at heights 5–30 ft 35%
  • Work at heights 30+ ft 25%
  • Occasionally = 1–33%, Frequently = 34–66%, Continuously = 67–100%

Shifts & hours

  • Average hours per week: 40 or 36/48 alternating.
  • Usual shift duration: 8 or 12 hours.
  • Willing and able to work rotating or permanent schedules (day/night), weekends, and holidays.

How we work

You’ll collaborate closely with an Operations Team Lead and/or Department Manager and a team of skilled technicians who embody Passion, Teamwork, and Excellence every day.
