Compensation: $20/hour Position Summary The Center for Proteomics and Molecular Therapeutics at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Sciences invites applications for a part-time Research Assistant position in the laboratory of Dr. Erin Howe. The Howe laboratory uses molecular, cellular and omics approaches to dissect the role of stress in breast cancer progression. The Research Assistant will conduct supervised research and provide support to other researchers and trainees in the lab in a highly collaborative and supportive environment. This position offers a motivated candidate an excellent opportunity to expand their skillset to include techniques such as immunohistochemistry, fluorescence microscopy, CRISPR/Cas9-mediated gene knockout and in vivo experiments. This is a part time position, eligible for our part time benefits for staff. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Assist in conducting original research to understand the role of social instability and stress signaling in driving breast carcinogenesis. Work with the principal investigator and lab members to prepare and present research results. Assist in training new lab members and summer students in lab techniques. Conditions of Employment Must achieve satisfactory results from a background check Required Education & Experience Applicants should have a B.S. degree in biochemistry or molecular biology and demonstrated experience in cell/molecular biology. Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Applicants should have experience with molecular and cell biology techniques, including cell culture, organoid culture, cell-based assays such as fluorescence imaging, antibody-based assays and PCR. Applicants should be motivated, with excellent organization and time management skills. Applicants should be able to successfully work with scientists from a wide range of education backgrounds, and with a wide range of previous experience. Preferred Qualifications Proficiency in common computer programs such as Word, Excel, and Prism is a plus but is not required.
