Overview Job Title: DevOps/ Cloud Engineer – (Google Cloud Platform/Terraform/Azure) Location: Houston, Texas Duration: Long Term We need someone who is good with both Technical and Managerial skills. Responsibilities Able to help us improve our DevOps and Cloud (Google Cloud Platform) landscape based on a thorough understanding of generally accepted options and best practices, our requirements, and observation of our current landscape. In other words, somebody who thinks critically, who is inquisitive, knowledgeable at a level higher than just implementation/scripting, and seeks out better or alternative ways to do things as appropriate. Ability to create grammatically sound, well structured, well thought out, and natural flowing documentation, papers, or knowledge articles related to DevOps that target specific audiences (for example other DevOps engineers, developers, or C-suite folks). Equally comfortable to talk about low-level details to engineers as well as higher level abstractions (such as DevOps strategy/policy/process) with management. Comfortable with and willing to challenge leadership when they think something is wrong, but also knowing when to step down. Be proactive, and a self-starter. We are not looking for only a DevOps order taker (although sometimes this is necessary and important), but somebody who additionally can be a DevOps thought leader without being told or asked. Required Skills Regarding the common git branch/merge/deployment strategies, should be able to explain each, demonstrate use of and weigh in on the pros and cons of each. Expert in Terraform scripting. Expert in ADO build and deploy pipeline YAML scripting, deploying using containers or otherwise. ADO variable groups and environments. What a build vs. a deployment pipeline should be doing, with real-life examples. Cloud environment-specific (Azure/Google Cloud Platform) deployment choices/technologies. Cloud specific (Azure/Google Cloud Platform) support methodologies and available tools and best practices, e.g. how to monitor and alert on code and issues happening in cloud deployments. Be proactive, and a self-starter. We are not looking for only a DevOps order taker (although sometimes this is necessary and important), but somebody who additionally can be a DevOps thought leader without being told or asked. Strong technical skill GitHub Actions CICD workflows (Azure DevOps). Understanding of CICD flow to deploy resources in Google Cloud Platform. Strong knowledge in Terraform (Modules, drift and state file mgmt). Security scans (SonarQube, Checkmarx, Twistlock image scan and Wiz). Google Cloud Platform Cloud experience (IAM, BigQuery, Cloud Run, Pub/Sub, Vertex AI...).
