POSITION PURPOSE

The Chief Social Impact Officer (CSIO) is a bold, action-oriented leader who will establish and lead CHCs Social Impact Department an enterprise-wide effort to address the root causes of systemic barriers and improve health outcomes for all. This role requires a strategic thinker, doer, convener, and thought leader. The CSIO must be equally comfortable crafting big-picture strategy, managing partnerships, and rolling up their sleeves to lead implementation. They will also serve as a trusted voice and amplifier of solutions, bridging traditional and nontraditional partners across sectors, geographies, and lived experiences to accelerate impact and shape the field.

As the head of CHCs national programmatic office, the CSIO will oversee program design, thought leadership, and external engagements to drive scalable and sustainable change.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Strategic Leadership & Vision

  • Develop and implement a multi-year, scalable social impact strategy that positions CHC as a national leader in scalable, community-centered impact that addresses the root causes of poor health outcomes for all.
  • Shape the department into CHCs national office of social impact, guiding programming, policy, and partnerships that address root causes of poor health.
  • Serve as a key advisor to the CEO and Executive Leadership Team in embedding social impact across CHCs organizational priorities.
  • Drive a culture of innovation, agility, and continuous learning.

Program Execution & Delivery

  • Lead the design, launch, and scaling of initiatives that improve individual and community health outcomes.
  • Oversee programmatic initiatives and system-level interventions, ensuring implementation excellence and continuous learning.
  • Establish the department as a national programmatic office providing technical assistance, development of toolkits, implementation support, and strategic guidance.
  • Integrate technology, data, and community wisdom into programs that are replicable and responsive to diverse contexts.
  • Provide technical assistance to nonprofits, community-based organizations, funders, corporate social responsibility groups and government agencies working to address social drivers of health.
  • Develop and share tools, models, and best practices that enable local and regional partners to accelerate their impact.

Convening, Thought Leadership & Community Activation

  • Serve as a trusted convener and collaborator, bringing together traditional and non-traditional partners, including community groups, corporations, researchers, and health systems to co-create and implement solutions.
  • Cultivate cross-sector, cross-movement partnerships that expand CHCs reach and activate shared goals.
  • Elevate and amplify proven and promising practices through strategic communications, convenings, and collaborative learning platforms.
  • Identify and co-develop initiatives with funders and strategic allies to unlock new sources of investment and innovation.
  • Bridge sectors and stakeholders who may not traditionally work together to catalyze uncommon alliances for health.
  • Represent CHC in national forums, public dialogues, and publications to influence policy, shift narratives, and build momentum for health equity.

Vendor & Contract Oversight

  • Manage the selection, negotiation, and oversight of all vendors, contractors, and consultants supporting the Social Impact Department.
  • Ensure performance, alignment with goals, and responsible use of financial resources.

Talent Strategy & Deployment

  • Build and lead a high-performing, diverse team of public health professionals, program leaders, and community experts.
  • Develop a deployable talent bench that can be activated as new initiatives are launched, or new funding becomes available.
  • Promote a values-aligned culture of trust, inclusion, innovation, and execution, aligned with CHCs mission and values.
  • Lead the engagement, management, and accountability of external partners and consultants supporting department activities.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work across departments to align efforts and drive shared outcomes.
  • Collaborate across CHC departments to align social impact efforts and drive shared outcomes.
  • Facilitate cross-functional initiatives that advance shared metrics and center community voice.

Evaluation, Learning & Continuous Improvement

  • Define KPIs and oversee development of a performance and learning framework to track, adapt, and communicate impact.
  • Ensure use of participatory evaluation methods that reflect the experiences and priorities of communities served.
  • Contribute to CHCs knowledge base by sharing insights, lessons, and emerging practices with internal and external audiences.

  • 10+ years of senior leadership in public health, community development, systems change, or social innovation.

  • Strong record of external engagement, thought leadership, public speaking, and field influence.
  • Experience managing vendors, consultants, or technical teams; familiarity with contract oversight and budget management.
  • Excellent facilitation, communication, and team leadership skills.
  • Masters degree in public health, public policy, administration, or related field; doctoral degree preferred.
